FLEA MARKET FINDS

I finally took photos of my finds from last month’s Alameda Flea Market:

-A signed, limited-edition print of a thistle, which I pretty much stole for $5
-Beer steins with slightly detached handles
-A blue Tonka truck from the ’70s for the little guy
-Georgie a rubber baby doll. I’ve been looking for a good one for Hank, and had to have Georgie when I noticed he had one blue eye and one brown, like Bryan.
-A very small jointed doll, which I’ve added to my small-impassive-doll collection. The big gash on his face is part of the charm. I was going to pop him in a terrarium, but Hank has adopted him. He calls him “Guy.”
-A few more cool little cars for Hank. The ones with the best moving parts aren’t pictured because Hank has hidden between couch cushions or somewhere similarly secret.

A pretty good haul for about forty bucks.

Over at Mighty Junior, Melissa is building a reference guide to the best gifts for kids of all ages. She started, of course, with the One Year Old Gift Guide. So if you have any tiny friends with birthdays coming up, you’ll know where to find the perfect gift. Including the least annoying bath toys I’ve seen.

Host Gifts

After the 400th gifted bottle of wine, I was trolling the Mighty Goods archives looking for good, classic host gifts to restock our gift closet. I figured you might be interested in the results, so I pulled together a Classic Host Gifts guide. Next week, I’ll gather up the more unique, offbeat picks.

And while we’re on the subject, Girl Scout Cookies make awesome host gifts, but they’re tough to come by online. So find a scout and secure your thin mints while they’re in season!

The Goods

Holy crap, you guys like to shop. Etsy doesn’t let you see the stuff that’s already been sold, so I thought I’d post some photos of the goods gone by. Some of this stuff is still available, however. Today’s new items are the Bisque dolls from Japan and the toy car ornaments.
