The Berkeley Kite Festival had so much stuff for bouncing.

And now a moment of silence for this sigh-inducing striped coverup I failed to win on eBay.

I had a day of errands, so I packed a picnic lunch and ate by the bridge. It made me realize how memorable it is to eat outside — I wonder why I do it so rarely.

This is July in San Francisco. Sometimes I miss sweltering summers in the valley, but it was lovely to have lunch in my sweater and watch the tourists (all of whom were shivering in shorts and San Francisco sweatshirts). I’m rarely more than fifteen minutes away from this view, and I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve picnicked here.

I cut my hair.

OK, I kid. The real deal was more of a trim, but I thought I’d startle you.

Let the comments asserting that I should bob my hair begin.

We piled all the books in bed and had a reading marathon after bath time. Hank fell asleep in the big bed.

NOPA with a girlfriend who wanted to order everything I wanted, so we ordered a bunch of food and split it all. Then I let her get to second base.

Anna Beth sent me a package of finds from an estate sale a few months ago, and I put this dress in to soak. A few minutes later, I found this mess of gorgeous in the tub.

Glad I didn’t put that in the wash with the rest of my clothes.
