Mix: Dancing Alone in Your Underwear

If you haven’t spent much time dancing alone in your room, you should know it’s better without pants. But then, that’s true of so many things.

The whole Dancing Alone in Your Underwear Mix is available on Spotify. Otherwise, links to individual songs are below. Let’s do this.

Afterparty at Jimmy’s from Anya Maria
Howlin’ for You from The Black Keys
Rill Rill from Sleigh Bells
How You Like Me Now from The Heavy
We Run This from Missy Elliot
Groove Me from King Floyd
Fix Up, Look Sharp from Dizzee Rascal
I Got You, I Feel Good from James Brown
I Know What I Am from Band of Skulls
Seven Nation Army from Ben L’Oncle Soul

Leave your own Risky Business soundtrack in comments. No judgement.

  1. This is awesome but if I may be so bold to add: Early in the Morning by the Heartless Bastards, Just Like Heaven by The Cure and Take Your Mama by the Scissor Sisters. I do most of my rockin out in my car, so I must keep my knickers on. That might be strange otherwise. Or maybe not?
    Best,
    Tina

  2. When my 4 year old was 2, she would climb on the table, strip down to her diapers, and dance her heart out to Franz Ferdinand’s “No You Girls Never Know”. I will never forget this, especially since we captured it on film.

  3. I have to second Tina’s Scissor Sisters recommendation, I have had some quality kitchen dance parties to “Take Your Mama” in recent memory.

Also, I am loving Ben l’oncle Soul, thanks for that tip!

  4. I’ve had many a solo dance party in my bedroom. Two of my favorites are Blister in the Sun by Violent Femmes and Big Pimpin’ by Jay-Z.

  6. Sooooooo glad/amazed that you included “fix up, look sharp”. It was my husband (boyfriend at the time) official start the night out song! Love it!
As for dancing with our without pants – my two year old and I have in the car and in the kitchen dance parties regularly to “Dance Yourself Clean” by LCD Soundsystem, “Sleepyhead” by Passion Pit and “Whoo! Alright! Yeah! Uh-huh” by The Rapture.
