Mighty Life List: Choose Your Own Adventure

So, I have news. News that warrants a celebratory hair flip:

(It’s helpful to have one of those on hand.)

The news is that Verizon Wireless is sponsoring my Mighty Life List! Yes they are! We are getting this done, y’all.

I’ll be working on three items this month, and I’ll tell you all about them right here. What I’m hoping is that you’ll commit to doing three things this month too, and keep us updated via comments. At the end of the month, I’ll do a roundup about all the living we got done.

I’ll tell you more about my goals as we go along. Verizon gave me a new phone and the idea is to use it to help me tackle my Mighty Life List, so I chose goals that are more about living my daily life thoughtfully, and less about jet setting. Also, I’ve added “Tattoo a Verizon logo on my bicep” to my list, so I’ll be starting there.

Oh, but I kid. It will be on my ankle next to the Celtic gecko.

Now for you! What are you doing this month? Something awesome? Tell us.

A huge thanks to Verizon Wireless for sponsoring my Mighty Life List and helping me achieve my dreams. They’re making my site more interesting by helping me cross off few more goals, and they also gave me a Palm Pre Plus. One that completes calls. Thanks, guys.

  7. Oh – I’d love to know your take on your Palm Pre Plus – My ‘new every two’ is up April 13 and I’m counting down the days until a new phone (considering my current phone is a replacement from a family member and dates well past 2000 and you have to, like, dial through the ABC, to text..ugh!LOL) But I just found your site today and am totally going to create a 100 list of things to do… Thanks for the inspiration! ❤

  15. Well, we’re halfway done with the bathroom remodel…as in the half with no shower. So hopefully I’ll have checked “Renovate the Bathroom Into a Peaceful Oasis” by the end of the month. Right now, it’d be an oasis if it had a door.

Neighbor called this morning to set a date to rent a chipper, so perhaps I’ll be able to cross off “cut down those $#*!& trees.” The trees are down, but until the debris has been cleared, I won’t cross it off. Some has been burned, some has been sold, and a lot is waiting to be chipped. Next week, apparently.

I’ll make at least 1 lovely thing this month. I have a care package to send to a friend’s grandma, and I really want it to be pretty. I made one cake, it was lovely, but since there was no room in my freezer, and I didn’t get it out right away…I just don’t want to send her a stale cake. So I’m giving it to the neighbors and will make it again and get the package out…before Passover!

  21. What an awesome sponsor indeed! I just got a Motorola Droid yesterday and looove it.

I’ve been kind of playing along on the Life List thing but I am starting with a 2010 Goals list – mostly because I am 5 months post-op (gastric bypass) and have lost a ton of weight — so my goals have been a mix of just things I want to get done and things I’ve basically never been able to do, at least for my adult life up to now. (Last year was The Year Of Jen where I set out to get the help I needed for my health and totally accomplished that!)

This last weekend I learned to ski – it was the first big goal I completed and I was so proud of myself I was all teary-eyed when I thanked my instructor.

So, this month I will accomplish:

    1) Finish one month of workout bootcamp (3 days a week for 4 weeks)

    2) Have a costume party for my 30th – Alice in Wonderland themed! I’m wearing a DRESS and getting all gussied up.

    3) Get back to swimming! I used to swim competitively in high school – I loved it. So it’s time to get back into it.

I have a bunch of other goals to accomplish this year – my list is on my site (jenguin.com).

Thanks Maggie, you are really an inspiration to me – the mix of fun and determination to accomplish so many things.. it’s so great!

  22. Ok, so interesting. You’re doing smaller goals then? My life list is a little on the “start a business” “buy a home” front… which I’m working on…. but totally can’t join you on three a month.

So, it should be interesting, seeing you go closer to home and smaller.

    1. build mad jewelry fabrication skillz (bezel setting and riveting among them)
    2. plant my avocado tree before it dies of neglect
    3. run around Lake Merritt at least once. ONCE! Seriously, I should be able to do this once in the month of March, right?

  30. I am going to:

    1. Have a baby (hopefully – I really want her to be a March baby and not an April baby. Also, I want her to be a Pisces like my hubby and not an Aries like me, but she’s already showing signs of STUBBORN so I may have to concede this battle.)

    2. Learn to breastfeed. (This scares the shit out of me like nothing else. Thus far in life, I’ve only used those things to make my dresses look great. Now I have to use them how God intended. Eeek!)

    3. Learn to block out the negativity from my mother and mother in law while I teach myself to be a mother. When they tell me that I’m DOING IT WRONG (and they already have been for the past 8.5 months) I want to ignore them or laugh it off or tell them to shove it. But, I want it to stop bothering me.
