Atopalm Face Cream

Hello! This isn’t an ad, it’s a thing I use. My friend Tess and I like to give everyday things we love as presents, so I thought I’d start telling you about some of mine. Atopalm is top of the pops.

I have dry, sensitive skin, and I’ve been using Atopalm Face Cream on my face and neck for about five years. It’s perfect in the following ways:

• Not crazy expensive, it’s about $25 for a 3.4 oz jar, and I don’t need to use much at a go.
• It goes on light, very moisturizing but not greasy, and it soaks in completely.
• The fragrance is very faint, and doesn’t compete with my perfume. If I had to nail it down, I’d say faintly citrusy?
• It layers well, so I can use it with sunscreen and foundation and my makeup doesn’t slide around.

I use it in the morning under my makeup and before bed in combination with a few other products for fine lines, and so forth. Anyway, good stuff.

Do you have any skin creams you swear by? I’m curious because I feel like it takes forever to find the right one for your particular skin.

  1. Refined coconut oil is a game changer for me. My skin is extremely dry and extremely sensitive. Like right now I have open wounds on all my knuckles due to cracking dry skin even though I have an intense moisturizing routine. Just washing my hands frequently destroys them. So anyway, coconut oil on my face is amazing – my skin actually stays moisturized all day and looks healthy. I hear it’s a great meal up remover – but I’m allergic to most makeup so I only wear mascara and a cream blush occasionally.

  2. I have combination skin that may get oily, break out, or be flaky and dry depending on the weather, or how annoying my skin wants to be (FUN). I can’t layer too many products, so I’ve been using the Cera Ve day lotion with sunscreen in the morning, and Cera Ve night lotion at night–it’s much lighter and I pair it with Retin A. I also love Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse, and will pat it on after washing my face if I’m not doing my bedtime cream routine for a little while to help prevent it from getting tight and dry. You’re right, though…it takes forever to find the right thing. Then as soon as I get comfortable in a routine I feel like my skin changes it up on me.

  3. I use a wild rose facial oil from Mountain Rose Herbs and I LOVE IT. I use the oil cleansing method for washing and follow it up with a spritz of facial toner and then the facial serum. My face tends to be oily and dry (being an adult is strange), but the combination of the oil cleansing method and the facial serum makes my face skin look and feel dewy (not greasy), and it evens out my complexion.

  4. I recently moved from South Carolina to (very cold and wintery) Michigan, and I was having trouble with the skin around my eyes getting dried out and scaly. I recently started using Clinique’s All About Eyes Rich eye cream, and it is FANTASTIC. Not too heavy, not greasy. I put it on and around my eyes right before bed, and I haven’t had a problem since I started using it a couple of months ago.

  5. I was talking to myself out loud this morning about how I will never give up my boring face lotion that I’ve used for years, even though I’ve tried others. I use Eucerin Daily Protection with sunscreen. Fragrance free, good for crazy sensitive skin, and sun protection (even though it’s not the best kind of sunscreen, nothing else has been an all-around lotion that has stayed with me for years).

  6. At night, I grease up my dry face with an oil. I’m on marula oil now, but change it up, depending on whatever’s on sale, whatever. I’m crazy whimsical.

  7. Can’t resist a good skincare discussion. 🙂

I’ve been impressed by the folks at Ayla, who recommended MyHavtorn for moisturizer and MD Solar Sciences for sunscreen for my pale, sensitive, dryish but still with the occasional blemish, 41-year-old skin. A year or so in, I’m still a fan.

  8. Trader Joe’s moisturizer with built-in sun screen is my go to. Not too thick, which I appreciate, but still moisturizing enough for Minnesota winter. I also like Aveeno, but that’s a bit pricier for me. I used to use the Oil of Olay, but I find it can be a tad on the oily side for me.

  9. My favorite sunscreen for sensitive skin is Elta. I use the broad-spectrum facial formula, and find that it isn’t greasy or heavily scented (my husband also uses it). It doesn’t do anything incremental – I still need moisturizer, etc., but I view that as a net positive, since I can modify anything about my routine around it with no impact. I basically know I’m protected and forget about it immediately after I put it on.
