Teacher here — you totally only need two or maybe three days. Then, you can see through the egg too. You might need to rub a little shell off under a gentle stream of water, but that’s easy to do.

Also, once you have the shell off, put the egg in different solutions. Try karo syrup, distilled water, koolaid, etc. Observe. It is pretty amazing!
