Motionpoems

26th May 2011

Years ago, I posted this poem by Todd Boss, and he recently sent me a note to say he’s been working on a project called Motionpoems — poetry set to animation and video. I love this idea:

RENDER, RENDER a poem by Thomas Lux from Motionpoems on Vimeo.

The Trees — They Were Once Good Men, a poem by Todd Boss from Motionpoems on Vimeo.

If you’d like to help, they have a Kickstarter Project up to fund about 15 new shorts to accompany Scribner’s Best American Poetry Anthology, so consider pitching in. Also, if you’re a professional film maker or video artist who wants to make a motion poem, let me know and I’ll pass your info along.

Thank you, smart people, for making cool stuff. Amen.

Actually I have a film I made years ago to Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman.” But it seems that you’re interested in new poems.

I do have one line of original, postpartum poet-like observation. Ready? This is gonna be epic.

“I stand with flaccid breasts, somehow still full of myself.”

Angella and Todd are my fellow Minnesotans, so I might be a little geographically biased, but I love this project. Thanks for bringing attention to it, Maggie!

This is great. I’ve recently discovered slam poetry, or the spoken word performance poetry. A link to one of my favorites relevant to parenting is Taylor Mali’s What Teachers Make but there are many other examples by Taylor Mali, Shane Koyczan and probably many others I don’t know.

Sehr informativer Bericht.
