So I’ve been working on this Presidential Election ’08 Schwag feature over at Mighty Goods, and I’m gleeful about all the weird stuff you can get. McCain Condoms, Obama nesting dolls, candidates carved in soap, and so on.
The Palin schwag, especially, is off the charts. There are a few that didn’t make the cut, but were still interesting enough to note.
I found a few voodoo doll options, but only for Palin. I’m actually surprised candidate voodoo dolls aren’t more widely available.
This button wins for best slogan.
Also, there’s this Cafepress shirt. Which I think is supposed to be supportive?
And you must explore all the awesomely confusing Etsy art Palin has inspired. Including this piece, entitled “Sarah Palin Triclops.”
If you’ve seen anything exceptional that I missed, pony up in the comments.
Please stop being political. Now I can’t come here any more. Same goes for Heather. I enjoyed your blog, but goodbye.

Voodoo? So THAT explains the Couric interview.

Thank you for sharing your sense of humor, even as it applies to politics, on your personal blog.
I for one, will always come back.

woah, woah, woah – i hardly think pointing out the craziness of election season is being “political” – it’s unavoidable this time of year, is it not?
And – God Bless America because not only does Maggie have the freedom to write about whatever she wants, but you have the freedom to criticize and not read!

How about these paper dolls? http://www.flickr.com/photos/daveandsue/2868964983/
Found recently in Barnes and Noble when we visted San Fran.

Thank you for being both political and interesting. This election is far too important to demur on sharing your ideas and opinions about it with others.

Hilarious post. I second the other readers who say keep the political jokes coming!!! Or at least the voodoo dolls of candidates.
The one of the moose is going to be etched in my memory for a very long time.

I too am loving your political humor. I am just waiting for the perfect “Caribou Barbie” or “Bible Spice” item to add to my collection. Too bad that this isn’t just fun and that it could truly be our reality. Just when we thought that it couldn’t get worse – – – along comes Sarah.

Loved it. And what part of “personal website” do people not understand? If Walmart or the local library or neighborhood bank put up a political post on their website, yes, perhaps inappropriate. An individual’s observations and maybe opinions? Get over it.
One wonders why jane “can’t come here anymore.” Not allowed? Frightened to the core by a potentially divergent viewpoint? Hmm.
FWIW, my only concern with this post (and I’m pretty much a “don’t wish harm on people, even jokingly, just because you don’t like their politics” person, so I expected the voodoo dolls to ring a bell for me, which they did, but only a bit) is: What on earth is going on with the ?breasts? on that oil-rig chick? That is one scary silhouette…

Awesome, awesome, awesome (said with Palin accent). Yup Yup.
What is with people not being able to read something because they don’t agree with it? This is your space, do with it what you will. Jane can go spend time with those who only reaffirm what she already believes. Life must be pretty dull when people tell you what you already know.
Glad mightygirl is around to introduce me to the wonderful world of Palin voodoo dolls and Triclops art (among other things).

I’m so out of touch. I had no idea there was this much energy going into creative election paraphernalia. I really do need to get out more.

Funny stuff, albeit tacky, of course. Would love to see some other items highlighted, though. Is there anything for Biden or is he overlooked in schwag just as in everything else? And … re: Grace — aren’t you doing the same? Yup, yup.

OMG Too funny!
And Jane, good riddance! If you think Maggie (or Heather) are supposed to post what YOU want on THEIR websites – perhaps it’s best you just don’t come back!

Deb, the rest of the stuff is at the schwag roundup on Mighty Goods, linked at the top of the post. And no, there’s not much Biden merch going around.

Yes- you have the right to write about whatever you want. But why is it ok to be mean about someone you don’t agree with? I read your site because you are talented and have good things to share. Vodoo dolls and photos that make people look like monsters makes me not want to come here. I get it… you like Obama.

I’d be disappointed if the Maggie I know and love *didn’t* have any posts relating to the election. I’d probably be wondering whether she moved to a deserted island without my knowing it.
