Congrats to Cam and Doug Bowman, who just launched Greater Ink, a T-shirt company that donates 25 percent of profits to organizations like the ACLU, Lawrence Hall of Science, and the United Way. I got Science Matters shirts for the boys, and a Resist shirt for myself.

Peacock fan palm
also called Travelers Palm
Picture of plant looks like Ravenala madagascariensis (common name = traveller’s palm. I believe it is from Madagascar. Also believe it is not a “true” palm, botanically speaking
Thanks, you guys!
Definitely a Ravenala madagascariensis, related to my local Strelitzia Nicolai… smaller but also creates a gorgeous fan affect.
