Friday Mixtape!

I’ve always wished I knew more about music, and this is part of my Life List project to listen to 1,000 new songs. Right now I’m up to 570, and on Fridays I share some of my new favorites. If you’d like to share some music with me, please send your picks to maggie at mighty girl dot com, and I will listen to them.

These first two artists and songs are recs from Melanie Levi:

Roll Away Your Stone from Mumford and Sons

Nothing Else Matters covered by Lissie

The Start of Something from Voxtrot

Just Impolite from Plushgun

Via Pop On and On

Like a G6 from Far East Movement

Let’s dance this one out.

  1. Mumford and Sons are my favorite new-ish group. I’ve introduced loads of my friends to them, and was lucky enough to be in England just before they took off, so I saw them live twice, the first time at a club where there were still tickets at the door.

  2. I love Mumford and Sons!

My favorite songs at the moment:

Picture Window by Ben Folds & Nick Hornby. I have tickets to see them in DC for a book talk/music event next week and I’m so excited!

You Don’t Have to Believe Me by Eric Hutchinson. His album is my Happy Driving Music Album.

And The World Turned by The Gabe Dixon Band. A recent discovery thanks to Pandora (specifically my Bon Iver station)

  3. I love these little lists! My husband and I have very sweet feelings about “The Start of Something” by Voxtrot. It’s our song, if you will. Falling in love with that band and falling in love with one another overlapped and my heart is always lifted when hearing that song.
