“I’m Not Really A Waitress” has been my favorite nail polish for years! What’s great is I actually was a waitress when I started wearing it; something I always found ironic. Also, I suggest “Lincoln Park After Dark”, not for Valentine’s Day, but for the winter.
How sad is it that I cried merely at your description of Love You Forever? It’s a good one.
Sigh…Amelie. Definitely one of the most romantic movies evah.
Love You Forever is a downright creepy book. I read it to my stepdaughter without really knowing anything about it… by the end she looked at me and said: I do NOT like that book it makes me feel sad and yuck inside (she was 4). So we never read it again. I understand the nice intention of the book, but the ending is a bit too morbid, I feel, for a young child. Also it introduces the idea to your child that one day mommy will die. Fun bedtime topic, don’t you think?
I suggest “Guess How Much I Love You?” A very cute book about bunnies! My stepdaughter now tells us… the sun is further away so I love you to the sun and back again!
Amelie is one of the best romantic movies ever, I agree!
Sorry, Maggie, but I have to agree with Ana about “Love You Forever”. It’s been a while since I’ve read it (my kids are 11 and 13), but doesn’t the mom sneak into the (adult) son’s room and sing to him, too? Sweetly intentioned, definitely, but, for sure, a little creepy (at least to me). It’s definitely the way that we all feel about our kids, that they’ll always be our babies (my mom says that she STILL has the urge to scoop me up and rock me to sleep and I’ll be 40 tomorrow), but I don’t think our kids really understand the depths of those parental feelings at bedtime-story age. I’m glad that you and Hank enjoy it, though…ANY reading to kids is great…and I think the rest of the list is positively SUBLIME.
I thought I was going to have to break the news to you that ‘Love You Forever’ was a scary, scary book – but I see that I’m not the only one who things so!
LOL @ the “Love You Forever” comments. The first half of the book is very touching. Our family has dubbed the second half of the the book “Stalk You Forever”. :-P
Thanks
