I wrote this last year and forgot to post it. Pretend it’s summer and you’re craving a blendy beach drink in Mexico.
I’m not pregnant anymore! Rum, come here so I can kiss you on the mouth.
Our rental in Mexico had a blender, so I made a boozle of fruity drinks. This one is creamy and delicious, and you problematically can’t taste the alcohol. I prefer Kraken Rum because it’s vanilla-y, but you can probably use whatever.
For three drinks, combine the following in a blender:
3 cups frozen mango
1/2 cup vanilla almond milk
3 shots Kraken Rum
Blend until smooth, and garnish with sweetened shaved coconut. Then go find a hammock.

You’re warm, you’re cozy, you need to stand up more slowly from your chair. You can’t really tell these have booze in them, so pace yourself.
• Good Earth Original Sweet and Spicy Tea
• Kraken Rum
• Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage
Brew a half-mug of tea, add a shot of rum, top off with Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Almond Beverage. It’s not an exact science but you can’t really go wrong here.
Here’s to the smell of dirt under the leaves you waited too long to rake, oversize cable-knit sweaters with sleeves you can pull your hands up inside, rain beads on the window.
This is my 20th cocktail toward my Life List goal to create 100 cocktails. A fifth of the way there baby.
What happens when you send me out for booze in a college town.

“I have a life drinking rule: only have a glass of wine if you feel like one. And make sure it’s because you’re embracing a good moment. Wine and tears are for watching movies.”
We had a heatwave recently in San Francisco, which would have been much more expected in October. My apartment was an oven, so we decided to have drinks on the roof, but the only ingredients I had on hand were for my breakfast shake. Which is surprisingly good with rum in it.
2 cups almond milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
4 shots Kraken Rum
Here’s to friends up on the roof, long naps in the sun, and being good with where you are.
I love people who always have a toast at ready. I’ve been collecting favorites over the years. For a short wedding toast, or to wrap up a long one, “May you grow old on one pillow.” Over drinks I like to say, “Here’s mud in your eye!” I think because my grandma said it? No idea.
For dinner, I like, “May you never go to hell, but be always on your way.” or “Here’s to those who’ve seen us at our best and seen us at our worst and can’t tell the difference.”

You know what they say. When life hands you cake vodka, you make… a perplexed face because what is this shit? My friends and their ironic purchasing habits.
So this post is about using up an entire bottle of cake vodka before the people who brought it leave. This is both to teach them a lesson, and also so the bottle won’t linger in your cabinet and bring shame upon your household.
Our mission? Fruity drinks that taste like cake. There are worse ways to spend a Saturday night, and better ways to spend a Sunday morning. Onward!
I had a bag of blueberries in the freezer (how long have those been in there?), but these would likely work out ok if you subbed in any frozen berry. This is two variations on a blueberry/almond milk drink in an attempt to make a cheesecake thing happen. Both are good, the second is sweeter and more milkshake-y. Continue reading
