  1. Huh. The line from that song that always gets me is,

“You promised me heaven, you put me through hell.”

    Deep.

  2. Our design studio used to have as a client a scrapbooking company called “Close to my Heart.”

Someone would spit out that song in a meeting, replacing the lyrics with the name of the company and then the day would be essentially over.

Now I have the “icks.” Both because of that song and remembrances of all those crazy scrapbooking people.

  3. Yeah, except here’s how one of my high school friends sang it:

    “Shot at the DOG!
    And now he’s lame.
    You gave Spot
    A bad leg.”

  4. It’s a world of laughter a world of cheer, it’s a world of hope and a world of fear… There’s so much that we share that it’s time we’re aware

It’s a small world after all!

Nope, not running through my head.

  7. No, but I have had the theme to CHiP’s stuck in my head for a week. Before that it was the theme to Magnum, PI. I haven’t seen either show in years and I think this may some disease.

  9. It gets me every time someone sends one of those “you know lived through the 80s if” e-mails… And now, I don’t even have to wait for that to circulate again! Great… 😉

  10. Dammit! Though it’s okay, it replaces the lame-o Platinum Blonde song that was going through my head all day at work today. Hey, does anyone outside of Canada even know who those guys are?

  11. OK – first of all, isn’t that BonJovi, crankmama? Or was your Pat Benetar comment just a ‘blanket’ 80’s nostalgia comment?

and kimblahg if I wake up tomorrow with Tom’s Diner **STILL** in my head.. I’m gonna find you… and no doubt the first place I’m looking is in a diner ’round the corner.

  13. Air Supply…”I’m all out of love, I’m so lost without you…hmm hmm hmm hm hmmm, hm hm hmmm hmmmmmm hmm”

The worst thing about this song is you never remember the rest of the lyrics.

    Ha HA! So THERE!

  14. My girlfriend was singing along in the car to that and took on a southern twang. And she’s a Pacific Northwest German/Irish girl with no ties to the South whatsoever. I laughed and she asked why I was laughing and I said because you “put on an accent” and she said Bon Jovi always makes her do that. She’s a cowgirl and on a steel horse she rides.

  16. The one that always gets me is “Dead or Alive”. It’s got some really great, overly dramatic lines that I sing out loud when it’s stuck in my head:

    “I’m a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride.
    I’m wanted – WAAAA-AAAAANTED! – dead or alive.”

You know what I’m talking about.

  17. The cure for a song running through your head is to sing “The Candyman“.

Who can take a sunrise / Sprinkle it in dew / Cover it in chocolate / and a miracle or two? / The candyman / The candyman can / The candyman can cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good

  18. Ha – I was out to dinner Friday night and heard a guy sing that phrase while we were waiting to be seated. I really hope it’s because you stuck it in his head…

  20. I’ve never understood having trouble with a song stuck in your head. I pretty always have a song running through my head- but if I get tired of it, I just sing another song. Switch tracks, if you will.

“When I find myself in times of trouble…”

  21. When I have a Bon Jovi song stuck in my head, it’s usually “Dead or Alive” ‘I’ve been everywhere (oh yeah) and I’m standin’ tall, I’ve seen a million faces, and I’ve rocked ’em all!!!!’ sometimes it’s almost as good as coffee in the morning. Almost.
