This wouldn’t have been odd, except Rosecrans was living in Paris at the time, and I hadn’t heard anything about him coming to town. My brain kept insisting that it couldn’t be him.

Turns out he was there for a whirlwind work trip, filming an ad campaign for Louis Vuitton. They were trying to capture Francis Ford Coppola’s San Francisco, and I ended up in the campaign.

Click “USA”
Click “San Francisco with Francis F. Coppola”
Wait for the street video to stop playing and a mosaic of photos to appear

Click on the center photo that reads “The Mission Now, Bohemia”
Click on the photo of the blue sweater and coffee cup (that’s my sweater)
Mouse over the larger photo of the sweater and hit the play button

That’s all there is to it!

For those of you who aren’t related to me, and therefore won’t have to pretend to have seen this at the next family reunion, it’s enough for you to know that I am shockingly eloquent. I guess you’ll just have to trust me on that.

I hadn’t slept in three days, so I was too exhausted to assume my Rich and Throaty Media Voice. Click through to hear the valley-girl lilt that persists into my thirties. For some reason, I always thought that one day I’d just awaken sounding like Maya Angelou. You want world peace, I want the voice of an 80-year-old black woman. We all have our dreams.

I’m so excited to be back in Austin. Hello mornings at Jos, free booze on the tech industry, mornings gripping my temples and rocking. Good times.

Listening to the recording was a trip, because I was so exhausted when we talked that I had almost no recollection of the conversation. I was terrified to hit the play button, because all I remembered saying was that Hank was lulled to sleep by the sound of pubs. “Hello everyone! I’m a new parent, and I enjoy taking my kid to bars!” This is true, of course, but maybe it’s not what I’d have closed with had I been a little more on my game.
