Advent Grab Bag: 24 Days

Oh, look! We’re making something happy. Do you want one?

This is our 24 Days Advent Grab Bag, which Rena Tom and I packaged up for two reasons:

1. Neither of us could find a pretty, pre-stocked advent kit anywhere.
2. Both of us kept buying stuff in bulk so we could get the single perfect piece of plastic fantastic that would keep our kid occupied for hours. Turns out no one needs a dozen bird whistles.

Our kit is a tiny version of Santa’s bag, full of just-perfect treats. We’ve included a paper blindfold, so every night you or your kid can reach in for a surprise that will make you nostalgic for your childhood.

(Parents, this means you will not have to drive to three different stores to find toys that don’t have licensed cartoon characters on them. Big kids, you will not have to buy a dozen wishing fish in bulk to get one for your significant other. Merry Christmas!)

We only made 200 grab bags, so buy yours now, because when they’re gone they’re gone. Also, as part of fundraising for Camp Mighty, 50 percent of the proceeds will go directly to support Charity Water! This means your kids get twenty-four days of happy surprises, and other kids get clean drinking water. Magic.

Get you yours!

This sounds amazing! My daughter is too young this year but I’m putting in an early plea that you do these again next year…

  • Meg Says:

  • Brooke Says:

Wooo! I already feel lucky to have it.

Wonderful idea, for a great cause. Sadly, I don’t think my cats would appreciate it!!

Aw. I’ve been so excited all day, and went to order as soon as I got home from work, only to find you’re not shipping to Australia.
Any chance, once they’re all sold, that you could show us the contents so those of us who can’t buy one can at least be inspired to make our own?

  • Tania Says:

So sad you’re not shipping to Canada. :(

  • Kim Says:

Poop. Not shipping internationally. Any chance of a visual to see what we are missing out on? :)

  • Christine Says:

Awww, as others said, no shipping to canada? your neighbour to the north? Too sad!

  • Sheila Says:

Maggie, you are brilliant as always! Last year I got a very disappointing advent calendar for my kids when I was really looking for something just like this. A little fun and whimsy each day!

I just ordered it and can’t wait to get it! I have twins so I plan to let them take turns getting treats each day. Hopefully that doesn’t start any riots…

  • Rena Says:

Hi all, Maggie’s partner-in-crime here. Sorry about the US-only shipping. We are both busy ladies and with Maggie out of town for a rather crucial week, we just don’t have a lot of time to get these packages out! Each international order would take 3 times as long as a US order to deal with (customs forms, etc) so we are trying to rein it in this time. Shipping also gets ridiculous and we hate that, too.

You just saved me SO much time. Every year I spend days shopping for little trinkets. I’m so excited to see what is in the bag & excited that I could help bring clean water to those who need it at the same time! Brilliant!

  • Kate Andrews Says:

Totally understand, Rena. Just wondering whether there’s a chance for those who’ve missed out to see what the contents were and get inspired by your efforts…?
