Mighty Life List

If I’m on my period and have a genuine chocolate craving, it makes me feel a little stupid, like my life has been reduced to a Cathy cartoon. Also, I’m typing this in a swimsuit while I stand in front of a department store mirror with a plate of spaghetti in one hand and a bottle of Hershey’s syrup in the other.

how are you typing if you have a plate of spaghetti in one hand and a bottle of hershey’s syrup in the other? that takes some skillz.

  • Erin N. Says:

    Yum. Spaghetti.

  • Megan Says:

Among the worst days are period cliche days (which I didn’t consciously have tagged until now. Thanks a lot!)

  • lane Says:

I am so having that day today. I’m in a bitchy mood for no reason and I would stab a bitch for some chocolate right now.

  • Tiffany Says:

    It’s hilar, because it’s true.

  • Amanda Says:

ha! i recently stopped hormonal birth control and found myself extremely bitchy before my period. cathy was the first thing that came to my mind as well! i’m hoping the mental image of cathy scares my inner bitch away.

I totally agree!! The worst thing ever is when I fall into a girl stereotype where my pms makes me irrational and weepy and i end up apologizing later “I’m just… I’m just having pms!!!” I wanna shoot myself… why can’t I conquer nature? And why does that stuff have to be SO TRUE. It’s embarrassing.

  • Melissa Says:

UGH! The other day in the car with my husband I had to say “Listen, I just have PMS and am feeling really irritable right now.” How ridiculous!

  • Meegan Says:

Two nights ago I was eating half a pan of brownies, drinking my second glass of wine and weeping, openly, at So You Think You Can Dance…now there’s a PMS stereotype. (And one that my husband was kind enough to point out to me at the time. Fuck you, I mean thank you, honey.)

  • Renee Says:

I hate being reduced to nothing but a ball of hormones!

But that bathing suit, spaghetti, chocolate syrup thing you have going on sounds like pure talent!

  • K*OS Says:

Mmmm, chocolate! Chocolate Covered Jujubes are my must have when the craving hits. Super yummy!

Damn, now I want some chocolate!

  • Lauren Says:

reading these makes me feel so much better! haha… the worst is women who are all “i dont have pms, i think it’s just an excuse for girls to be bitches”. If i could take back every PMS moment, I so totally would. Well… minus the pure satisfaction at eating raw cookie dough… that’s priceless.

  • denise Says:

you and melissa summers have synched your periods cross country?

  • Maggeh Says:

Denise, I am so beta. You have no idea.

  • amanda Says:

I defected from BlogHer central yesterday and tried on suits at Kenneth Cole, I could’ve used some spaghetti.

  • Ade Says:

spaghetti and Hershey’s remind me of Gummo

  • Margaret Says:

Not to add to your misery, but on my machine at least, your CSS is borked. I have screencaps if you need.

  • lindsay Says:

not only holding a plate of spaghetti and hershey’s sauce, but large droplets of sweat are shooting in every which way in the shape of a rainbow… and your eyes are darting up at the ceiling in agony.

  • zoe right Says:

How is it we are all cycling together? I thought I was the only one with my face in a plate of brownies today.

  • misstraceynolan Says:

Starting to wonder if I’ve synched up with you just because I read your blog so faithfully? ACK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Michelle T Says:

See, when that happens I just tell everyone I need magnesium, and then munch on a bar of chocolate. Good times. :D

  • Sally Says:

    you are a funny lady.

  • Kara Says:

So I’m too lazy to actually link to it, but here’s what you need next time you have a real chocolate craving: Chocolate Sorbet, as posted by Deb at Smitten Kitchen. I made it tonight, and good heavens. There are simply no words. Try it try it try it! That is, if you have an ice cream maker. If not, I’m so sorry. It’s a recipe that turns an embarrassing chocolate craving into a sophisticated, grown-up indulgence that would never need an excuse.

  • Maggeh Says:

Margaret, yes please on the screen caps. Lots of stuff is going on behind the scenes over here and I’m trying to keep track of all the broken stuff.
