Beer. They have good beer there.
“You’ve never even been to Prague.”
“Ohhh, I’ve been to Prague…
…Okay, I haven’t been-to-Prague been to Prague, but I know that thing. I know that stop shaving your armpits, read the Unbearable Lightness of Being, fall in love with a sculptor, now I realize how bad American coffee is thing.”

kicking and screaming. yes!
one of my fave films ever. Like fer realz.
Top 10. This one’s in my Top 10.
Oh, now…this nostalgia was quite unexpected. I graduated college the year this came out and used it as a literal reference for what post-college life would be like. It was a comfort, truthfully.
Wait, are you going to Prague?
“Go away, Cookie Man!”
Not going to Prague, just watching TV while I shop.
Ok, then. Carry on and pick up a little something for us.
–Is that a pajama top?
–NO….yes.
GROVER! I love this movie.
All of those are good ideas except the armpit thing. Sounds better than it is.
YOU. ARE. AWESOME.
Is this from a movie? I need to know what movie, because I need to add it to my queue IMMEDIATELY.
Kicking and Screaming came out my senior year of collge I don’t think it had a positive effect on me at the time. Way too real for me at the time.
Too bad most people think Kicking and Screaming is a Will Ferrell movie.
Beer and alcohol is the biggest problem in the Czech republic, most of the Czechs are alcoholic, almost all divorced and always the main reason is alcoholism, men come drunk home after having beer daily after work… great civilization
Did the one character ever make it to Wisconsin?
Potato is an entree?
I love that movie.
“Monkey, Monkey, Ted and Alice” i would love to see Noah Baumbach would go back to comedy and make that a movie. Kicking and screaming is definitely one of my all time favorite films.
It was a happy day in our house when that movie finally came out on DVD; our VHS copy was getting a bit warp-y.
Among a certain circle of friends, one simply can not bring up Prague without repeating this verbatim.
I’ve never seen the movie, but there was one year almost a decade ago I did all those things, without ever leaving Vermont. And I got to keep the sculptor! Bonus!
One of my very favorite movies! It’s not everyone who can look cool holding their retainer in one hand while gesticulating wildly with the other.
Also: I refuse to acknowledge the existence of any other “Kicking and Screaming”.
Also: I love Eric Stoltz.
I’ve been to Prague. So I know the lose your passport, unable to stop weeping at the police station, endure multiple days filling out forms at the embassy, but still try to sight-see so it all won’t be a total waste thing. I think you and I saw different movies.
“in this heaaaarrrt of darkness…”
oh man. i thought i was the only person in the world who could quote the movie verbatim, and here are 20-something other people who love it as much as i do! i must go re-watch it for the 2739320th time immediately.
He’d already rather be bow hunting.
I love this movie. I love it. It has the greatest quotes through the whole thing. My friend and I often say, “I made a wise decision with these slacks.” Cracks me up every time.
Awesome. My brother and I often just talk in K&S quotes.
Visiting your blog for the first time, Maggie, and you’ve quoted one of my favorite movies ever. I’m hooked.
Best. Movie. Ever. Thanks for the rush!
