I too, used to use lots of product for my curly hair and I have cut it down to one. That would be Joico's Joiwhip Mouuse. I put ALOT on. If you think you have enough, add more. Then I flip my head over and take a paper towel to scrunch my moussed curls. They come out in perfect unfrizzy curls. I dry with a diffuser and they come out soft and silky. If you air dry then it comes out crunchy.

Great suggestion on Mixedchicks.net., thanks!
I have one with brown hair two with blond and all 3 have different curl patterns!!
It was so cute when they were toddlers now my 9 year old begs me to straighten it.
I want to cry every time I see her with straight hair she looks like a teenager.
ew.
haha.

Darcy - my niece (who now refers to herself as a mixed-kid) likes the Mixed Chicks products. Their site is mixedchicks.NET...whatever you do DO NOT go to the .com of that address. ack!

Lots of good product suggestions. [frantically making notes] Vanessa, what is the lipstick previously recco'd that stays on forever??!! I missed it. :-(

carrie - you can always mix some conditioner with water in a spray bottle and use that as a detangler. aloe vera is a good idea too. both are much cheaper and at least as effective as the pre-packaged detangler they sell.

darcy - african-american hair should not generally be washed that often. it's typically thick but fine, and is prone to drying, breakage, etc. i know most of my black friends only wash their hair once every few weeks. (they still shower regularly, of course, they just don't wash their hair.) as a wavy/curly haired white girl, i don't wash my hair more than 2x a week.

maggie, you have beautiful hair. :)

If you're ever up for a trial, I've found Aveda Sapmoss spray makes my curls look better than anything else in the world has ever been able to. It's love.

Beautiful! You alway look so lovely.

Thank you for ponying up about the hair. Because I wanted to ask, but was afraid of the Nazi comments.

Now. The lipstick please. Seriously.

The first thing I noticed in that video was your hair. Looked great!

Thanks for not saying your naturally curly hair just naturally always looks great. Sometimes I feel like I have to hide the fact that I need product to make my hair do what I want it to do (and what I know deep down it wants to do too) because it somehow disqualifies me from having 'real' curls. Real curls are still real work.

The tips are really useful because now I'm in the land of straight German hair and there is no selection of products to choose from. Your products are going on the shopping list my Kraut husband is taking on his business trip to San Francisco. (His penis by the way was the first uncut one I'd ever met, and heavily influenced my opinion on the topic. Personally, I'm anti.) ;-)

Oh my! I just got introduced to your site through your video series and my first thought was "I wish my hair looked like that". I am also a curly redhead. Thank you for this!!!

Wait a minute... your hair air dries?

Okay, I'm new here and I have very-wavy-bordering-on-curly hair, but there's no way it would air dry in less than 6 hours and it's only chin length! When it was your length, 20 hours, easy. How is it possible? More importantly how is it fair?
