Cravings

-We could not locate a decent banana split anywhere.
-That’s the thing about New York. It’s like the world is at your fingertips, but sometimes it’s hard to find just the basic things.
-Like a decent apartment.
-Or someone to love.

A few weeks ago I found out I was pregnant:) For me, it’s all about cheese. Can’t get enough.

  • Sarah B. Says:

Ah, you did find that ice cream-less milkshake, though.

  • Nadine - Healthifica.com Says:

    Food Craving?

    Maybe PMS

    or not?

  • shy me Says:

Wow… that almost sounds like my town! but.. way smaller, of course : )

  • Heather B. Says:

Where would one find an ice cream less milkshake?

And wouldn’t Serendipity (on 60th between 2nd and 3rd)have banana splits?

  • Katie Says:

I found out over the weekend that you now have to have reservations to get into Serendipity like a week in advance! Unfortunate.

Go to Jacque Torres on the corner of Houston and Hudson in the West Village, they have frozen hot chocolate that is like drinkable pudding in a cup.

  • Amy Says:

Dylan’s Candy Bar on 3rd & 60th (down the street from serendipity). You can’t go wrong there!

  • Martha Says:

You can get a superb vegan milkshake at Foodswings in Brooklyn!

  • melanie Says:

Nadine, as Maggie is pregnant, I doubt her craving is PMS-related.

Are you guys moving to enwhycee?

  • CrankMama Says:

And vegan ice cream definitely *WON’T* hit the spot, sister!

  • Amber Says:

Never did find someone to love in New York. But I totally rocked the ice cream shops.

Random aside: Just received your book in the mail. The excitement I feel leads me to believe that I need more hobbies or less caffeine.

  • Bethiclaus Says:

When I was pregnant with Alliclaus, I once cried when I found out they don’t have Marie Callendar’s within a 300-mile radius of home. I just really wanted coconut cream pie.

  • AnnieKNodes Says:

After living here for 10 years, I found someone to love in NYC. But I’ve never had a rent controlled apartment. And a decent banana split? I have no idea.

  • Sisco Says:

You don’t need a reservation at Serendipity if you’re only a couple of people. And don’t bother with a banana split, you need the frozen chocolate thing. Trust me.

There are lots of guys to love (okay, sleep with) in NYC, but only one good enough for me to marry. Reader, I married him.

I liked my apartment, until it filled to the ceiling with cockroaches. It was gross. I should write a post about that.

  • amanda Says:

No reservation needed at Serendipity if you’re a small group. If you order regular food, and make that known when you sign in, they’ll seat you faster. True.

Frozen hot chocolate is good, but the hot fugde sundae is ridiculous. I just drooled on my keyboard a little just thinking about it. Bet their banana splits rock.

  • Jessica Says:

The next time you’re in NY, pregnant and craving banana splits, head to Emack and Bolio on 7th. :)
